Fried Pie Ingredients

Method

Fried Pie Directions

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk gradually until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into circles (about 5 inches in diameter).

  3. 3

    Fill the Pies

Place a tablespoon of pie filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pies

Carefully place the filled pies in the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried pies warm with a scoop of your favorite ice cream on the side or on top.
