Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Fish and Shrimp
Rinse the fish fillets and shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, whisk the egg and milk together. Combine both mixtures into a single batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Fish
Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Dip the shrimp into the batter and fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and are crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Cook the Fries
Follow the instructions on the frozen fries package to cook them until crispy.
- 7
Prepare the Hushpuppies
In a bowl, combine the hushpuppy mix with water according to package instructions. Form into small balls and fry in the same oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- 8
Serve
Plate the fried fish and shrimp alongside the fries and hushpuppies. Enjoy!
