Marinara Sauce Ingredients

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about the size of a golf ball. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Brown Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and brown them on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In the same skillet, add more olive oil if needed. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer Sauce with Meatballs

Add the browned meatballs back to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes on low heat until cooked through.

Final Assembly

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

  2. 8

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and additional grated Parmesan cheese.

  3. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your house-made meatballs with marinara and cheese.
