Pepsi & Other Carbonated Soft Drinks

Method

Pepsi & Other Carbonated Soft Drinks

  1. 1

    Serve Pepsi Cold

Chill a 12 oz bottle or can of Pepsi until cold. Fill a tall glass with 6 ice cubes. Pour the chilled Pepsi over the ice. Optionally garnish with a lemon wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw.

Iced Tea (Sweetened Southern-Style)

  1. 2

    Brew Strong Tea

Place 4 black tea bags into a heatproof pitcher. Pour 4 cups of boiling water over the tea bags. Steep for 5 minutes for a robust flavor (6-8 minutes for stronger). Remove and discard the tea bags, pressing gently against the side to extract flavor.

  2. 3

    Sweeten While Hot

While the brewed tea is still hot, stir in 1 cup granulated sugar until fully dissolved to make a simple sweet tea base. Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature (about 20-30 minutes).

  3. 4

    Dilute & Chill

Once cooled, add 4 cups cold water to the pitcher and stir. Refrigerate until well chilled, at least 1 hour. To serve, fill glasses with 1/2 cup ice (about 3 cubes) and pour the iced tea over the ice. Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a mint sprig if desired.

Hot Coffee (Regular)

  1. 5

Measure 2 tablespoons of medium-ground coffee and place into a drip coffee maker filter or pour-over cone. Heat 8 oz (about 1 cup) of filtered water to just off-boil (195–205°F / 90–96°C) and pour through the grounds. Brew according to your brewer’s instructions (about 3–4 minutes for pour-over). Once brewed, pour into a cup. Add milk or cream (2 tablespoons) and sugar (1 teaspoon) to taste if desired. Stir and serve immediately.

Iced Coffee (Cold Brew-style Quick)

  1. 6

    Quick Cold Brew

In a jar or French press, combine 3 tablespoons coarsely ground coffee with 8 oz cold water. Stir to saturate all grounds. Let steep at room temperature for 30 minutes (for a quicker “flash” cold-brew) or refrigerate for 12–18 hours for a smoother result. If steeped briefly, press or strain through a fine mesh/coffee filter to remove grounds.

  2. 7

    Serve Iced Coffee

Fill a glass with 1 cup ice. Pour the strained cold brew over the ice. Add 2 tablespoons milk or cream and 1 tablespoon simple syrup if you want it sweetened. Stir and serve immediately.
