Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare glass
Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. If you like a chocolate-draped presentation, drizzle about 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup around the inside of the chilled glass, letting it streak down the sides. Set the glass aside.
- 2
Mix
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup). Add 1.5 oz Kahlúa, 1.5 oz vodka, 1 oz chocolate liqueur, and 1 oz heavy cream to the shaker.
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the cream is well emulsified, producing a slightly foamy texture.
- 4
Strain & serve
Double-strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer into the prepared chilled glass to remove ice shards. If desired, add a small drizzle of chocolate syrup across the surface.
- 5
Garnish
Lightly sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of shaved chocolate or a dusting of cocoa powder over the top of the cocktail. Serve immediately.
