Beverage Preparation
- 1
Juicing the Grapefruit
Start by juicing the grapefruit to yield one cup of fresh grapefruit juice. If you don't have a juicer, you can use a reamer or simply squeeze the juice out by hand, straining the seeds and pulp as necessary.
- 2
Mixing the Drink
In a large glass or cocktail shaker, combine the fresh grapefruit juice, tonic water, and simple syrup. Stir gently to mix the ingredients without losing the carbonation from the tonic water.
- 3
Preparing the Espresso
Brew one shot of espresso using your preferred method (espresso machine, stovetop espresso maker, or Aeropress). Allow it to cool slightly before adding it to the drink.
- 4
Combining Everything
Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour the grapefruit and tonic mixture over the ice and then gently float the shot of espresso on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
- 5
Garnishing the Drink
Garnish with grapefruit slices and fresh mint leaves. You can place the grapefruit slices on the rim of the glass and add the mint leaves on top for an aromatic touch.
- 6
Serving
Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Grapefruit Tonic with espresso!
