  1. 1

    Prepare the Espresso

Brew 2 shots of espresso using your preferred method, such as an espresso machine or stovetop Moka pot.

  2. 2

    Mix Cocoa and Spices

In a small bowl, combine the Mexican cocoa powder, panela (or brown sugar), cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, add the brewed espresso and the cocoa-spice mixture. Stir until the cocoa and spices are fully dissolved.

  4. 4

    Heat the Milk

In another saucepan, heat the milk until it is hot but not boiling. You can also froth the milk if desired.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Drink

Pour the espresso-cocoa mixture into a large mug. Slowly add the hot milk, stirring gently to blend the ingredients.

  6. 6

    Add Caramel

Drizzle the house caramel sauce over the top of the drink. Stir gently to combine, if desired.

  7. 7

    Garnish (optional)

Top the drink with whipped cream, if using, and sprinkle chocolate shavings on top for an extra treat.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve hot and enjoy your Caramel Abuelita.
