Method
Base Drink
If using ready-to-drink Gatorade
Chill the 1 liter bottle of ready-to-drink Gatorade in the refrigerator. When cold, pour the entire liter into a clean 2–2.5 liter pitcher.
If using powdered concentrate
Measure the powdered concentrate according to package to make 1 L of finished drink (or use pre-mixed 1 L equivalent). Add the powder to 500 ml cold filtered water and stir until dissolved, then pour into a 2–2.5 liter pitcher and add an additional 500 ml cold water to bring total to 1 L of prepared Gatorade base.
If using concentrated liquid from a larger bottle
Follow package dilution instructions to prepare 1 L of finished Gatorade base. Combine concentrate and cold water, mix thoroughly, and pour into a pitcher.
Dilution & Serving
Add the second 1 liter of cold water to the pitcher with the prepared 1 liter Gatorade base to create a 2-liter 'large' drink. Stir gently but thoroughly for 10–15 seconds to combine evenly. This dilution yields a milder, large-format serving and reduces sweetness if the base was very concentrated.
Taste the diluted mixture. If you prefer a sweeter or stronger flavor, add up to 1 tablespoon simple syrup (or reduce added water) and stir to combine. If the drink tastes too strong, add small increments (100 ml) of cold water until desired strength is reached.
Add 3 cups of ice cubes to the pitcher or pour the mixture into a large 1.5–2 liter insulated serving bottle filled with ice. Stir briefly to cool the drink rapidly.
Garnish with 3 slices of lemon or lime and 6 mint leaves if desired. Clap the mint between your palms to release aroma before adding. These are optional and intended to enhance aroma and freshness without changing electrolyte content.
Serve immediately in large cups (approx. 500–700 ml each) over additional ice if desired. For on-the-go, keep chilled in an insulated cooler or fridge.
Storage
Store any remaining prepared Gatorade in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Stir before serving. Discard if left at room temperature for more than 8 hours or if it develops off-odors or cloudy appearance.
