Cake Preparation

1

Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter together over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

2

Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until well combined and slightly thickened.

3

Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

4

Add Dry Ingredients

Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the batter, folding gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Prepare Ramekins

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with flour to prevent sticking.

6

Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 2/3 full.

7

Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

8

Cool Slightly

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the ramekins for 1 minute. Run a knife around the edges to loosen.

9

Invert and Serve

Carefully invert the ramekins onto serving plates. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a dusting of powdered sugar.
