Method
Preparing the Patty
- 1
Mixing the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
- 2
Forming the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty about ¾-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Grilling the Patties
Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking.

Chopping the Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Cut the tomato into slices and slice the onion into rings.
