Method
Making the Croissant Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, warm milk, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 4
Assembling the Croissants
- 5
Shape the Croissants
Roll the dough out to a large rectangle and cut it into triangles. Place a spoonful of Nutella or pastry cream at the base of each triangle and roll it up towards the tip.
- 6
Proof the Croissants
Place the rolled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise for about 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- 7
Bake the Croissants
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
