Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mixing the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. In a separate bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm. Stir in the eggs and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Kneading and Rising

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.

Assembling the Danish

  1. 4

    Shape the Danish

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into squares and place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture and a spoonful of fruit preserves in the center of each square. Fold the corners of each square toward the center and pinch to seal.

  2. 5

    Applying Egg Wash

Brush each Danish with the egg wash and sprinkle slivered almonds on top.

  3. 6

    Baking

Place the assembled Danish on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Warm

Let the Danish cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the flavor of the day!
