Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- 2
Bread the Chicken
Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one dish, beat the eggs in another dish, and pour the breadcrumbs into a third dish. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess, dip into the beaten eggs, and then coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Toppings
- 4
Assemble the Dish
In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the fried chicken breasts on top of the sauce.
- 5
Add Sauce and Cheese
Spoon additional marinara sauce over each chicken breast, then sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- 6
Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve hot with a side of pasta or salad.
