Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Combine until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Romano cheese, prosciutto, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.

  3. 8

    Fill Calzones

Place a generous amount of filling on one half of each dough circle. Fold the other half over and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.

  4. 9
