Method

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Season the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub the spices all over the meat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add water and half of the barbecue sauce. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Mix in the remaining barbecue sauce until well combined.

Grilled Cheese Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bread

Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

  2. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer shredded pulled pork, muenster cheese, and pickles. Top with the other two slices, buttered side facing out.

  3. 6

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and grill for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. 7

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
