Gallon Unsweetened Tea
Method
Gallon Unsweetened Tea
- 1
Heat water
In a large pot, heat 1 gallon of fresh water until just about to boil (hot, but not fully boiling).
- 2
Add tea bags
Remove from heat; immediately add 10 black tea bags to the hot water. Cover and let steep for 10–15 minutes.
- 3
Remove bags
Remove and discard tea bags. Do not squeeze them, as that can release bitter compounds.
- 4
Cool tea
Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, about 30–60 minutes.
- 5
Chill
Transfer the tea to a clean pitcher and refrigerate until cold, at least 2 hours.
