Method

Preparation of Tuna

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna Steaks

Pat the fresh tuna steaks dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help achieve a better sear.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Drizzle the olive oil over both sides of the tuna steaks. Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly on both sides.

  3. 3

    Coat with Sesame Seeds

Press the sesame seeds onto both sides of the tuna steaks to coat them evenly.

Cooking the Tuna

  1. 4

    Heat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over high heat. Allow it to get very hot, about 2-3 minutes.

  2. 5

    Sear the Tuna

Once the pan is hot, carefully place the tuna steaks in the pan. Sear for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if desired for more doneness.

  3. 6

    Remove from Heat

Once cooked to your preference, remove the tuna from the pan and let it rest for a minute before slicing.

Preparing the Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lemon juice, honey, and minced garlic until well combined.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the seared tuna steaks against the grain into thin slices. Serve with the sauce drizzled over the top or on the side.
