Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the French baguette in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom piece. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined. Form into two equal-sized patties.

  3. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and the sliced onions. Cook, stirring frequently, until they are soft and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired level of doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a generous portion of Gruyère cheese on top of each patty to melt.

  2. 5

    Assemble the Frenchie

Spread Dijon mustard on the bottom half of the baguette. Place the cooked patties on top, followed by caramelized onions. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top before placing the top half of the baguette.
