Espresso Ingredients

Method

Espresso Preparation

  1. 1

    Grind the Coffee Beans

Using a burr grinder, grind 18 grams of espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency, suitable for espresso brewing.

  2. 2

    Heat the Water

Heat 30 ml of filtered water to a temperature between 90°C to 96°C (194°F to 205°F). Make sure it is not boiling.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Portafilter

Place the ground coffee into a clean portafilter basket. Distribute the grounds evenly and then tamp down firmly with a tamper to create a compact puck.

  4. 4

    Brew the Espresso

Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine. Start the brewing process and allow the hot water to flow through the coffee grounds for about 25-30 seconds, or until you have extracted about 30 ml of espresso.

  5. 5

    Serve

Once brewed, serve the espresso in a pre-warmed espresso cup. Enjoy it straight, or use it as a base for other coffee drinks.
