Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Heat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Tomato

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato into medium-thick slices.

  2. 6

    Prepare Lettuce and Pickles

Wash the lettuce leaf and pat dry. Also, prepare the pickles by slicing them if they are whole.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns (optional)

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Finally, place the top half of the bun on the assembly.
