Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Glass
Start by chilling a highball glass or a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.
- 2
Muddle the Basil
In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh basil leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the basil leaves, releasing their aromatic oils. Be careful not to tear them too much.
- 3
Add the Liquids
Pour in the Don Julio Blanco and the fresh lime juice into the shaker with the muddled basil. Add ice to fill the shaker halfway.
- 4
Shake the Mixture
Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to combine all the ingredients and chill the mixture.
- 5
Strain the Mixture
Remove the ice water from the chilled glass and strain the mixture into the glass. Use a fine mesh strainer if you want to catch any basil bits.
- 6
Top with Ginger Beer
Slowly pour the Fever-Tree Ginger Beer over the strained mixture in the glass. This will add fizz and flavor to your drink.
- 7
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of basil for an aromatic finish.
