Mojito Ingredients

Method

Mojito Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves against the bottom of the glass to release their oils and combine with the sugar. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the fresh lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the glass. If you like, you can also drop one half of the lime into the glass for added flavor. Stir the mixture gently to combine the mint, sugar, and lime juice.

  3. 3

    Add the Rum

Pour in the white rum over the muddled mint and lime mixture. Stir again to ensure everything is well mixed.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes until it is about three-quarters full.

  5. 5

    Top with Soda Water

Carefully pour the soda water over the ice and mixture, filling the glass to the top. Use a spoon to give it a gentle stir, mixing the soda water into the drink.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw for sipping.
