Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Hazelnuts

Roast the hazelnuts in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown and fragrant. Allow them to cool, then rub off the skins using a clean kitchen towel.

  2. 2

    Make the Hazelnut Infusion

In a blender, combine the roasted hazelnuts and water. Blend until smooth. Then, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to extract the hazelnut essence. Discard the solids.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the hazelnut infusion, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. 4

    Add Alcohol

Once the mixture has cooled, add the neutral spirit or vodka and cocoa powder. Stir well to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

  5. 5

    Flavoring (Optional)

If desired, add almond extract and coffee beans to enhance the flavor. You can adjust the amount according to your personal taste.

Bottling and Storage

  1. 6

    Bottle the Mixture

Using a funnel, pour the Frangelico mixture into clean, sterilized bottles. Seal tightly.

  2. 7

    Let it Age

Allow the Frangelico to sit in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks to let the flavors meld together. The longer it sits, the better the flavor will develop.

  3. 8

    Serve

After aging, your homemade Frangelico is ready to serve. Enjoy it chilled, over ice, or in your favorite cocktails and desserts.
