Method
Preparing the Burger Patty
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and form them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
- 3
Assembling the Burger
- 4
Prepare the Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato and red onion into thin rings.
- 5
Toast the Buns
Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 6
Build the Burger
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf on each bun, followed by the cooked beef patty. Top the patty with slices of tomato and red onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
- 7
Serve
Serve the burgers immediately with your choice of side dishes.
