Cooking Instructions

1

Rinse the Rice

Place the 1 cup of white rice in a fine mesh sieve or a bowl. Rinse the rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.

2

Combine Ingredients

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, and 0.5 tsp of salt. If you are using butter, add 1 tablespoon at this stage for added flavor.

3

Bring to a Boil

Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low.

4

Simmer the Rice

Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and let the rice simmer on low heat for about 18-20 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking to retain steam.

5

Check for Doneness

After 18 minutes, check the rice. If all the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender, it is done. If not, cover and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

6

Fluff and Serve

Once the rice is cooked, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Then fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
