Method
Beer Base
- 1
Chill
Place the bottle or can of Modist Brewing beer in the refrigerator for at least 2–4 hours so it is well chilled (ideally around 38–45°F / 3–7°C). A chilled beer preserves carbonation and aroma.
- 2
Prepare glass
If desired, place the serving glass in the freezer for 15–30 minutes before serving to make the glass extra cold. Do not freeze solid.
- 3
Pour
Open the bottle or can. Tilt the chilled glass at about 45 degrees and begin pouring the beer slowly down the side. When the glass is half full, gradually straighten the glass and pour down the middle to create a 1/2"–1" head (about 1–2 finger-widths), preserving aroma and carbonation. If you prefer less head, pour more gently.
- 4
Adjust volume
If the beer is extremely foamy or you prefer a slightly lower ABV/volume per serving, top with up to 1/4–1/2 cup cold water. This is uncommon for craft beer; only do this for very strong pours or to make the beer more sessionable. Stirring is not required.

Optional ice
For very hot days and for drinkers who prefer a colder-than-chilled beer, add up to 1 cup of ice to the glass before pouring. Note: ice will dilute and mute flavors over time; use only if desired.

- 7
Serve
Serve immediately after pouring. Encourage drinking while the beer is still carbonated and aromatic. If serving multiple beers, label the glass or tell guests the style (for example: Modist Brewing - NE IPA).
