Cadillac Margarita

Method

Cadillac Margarita

  1. 1

    Prepare the glass

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass to moisten it. Pour the coarse kosher salt or margarita salt onto a small plate, then dip the moistened rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

  2. 2

    Measure and combine

In a cocktail shaker, add 3 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz Grand Marnier, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup. The small amount of lemon juice brightens the lime and balances the sweetness.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosty on the outside.

  4. 4

    Strain and serve

Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or leave it neat if you prefer served up. Double-strain (using a Hawthorne and fine mesh if available) the margarita from the shaker into the glass to remove small ice shards and any pulp.

  5. 5

    Garnish and adjust

Float an orange twist or wheel on top and/or place a lime wheel on the rim. Taste and, if desired, add a small splash of additional agave syrup or a squeeze of lime to adjust sweetness/acidity.

  6. 6

Serve immediately while cold. Enjoy responsibly.
