Prepare the Glass
Chill a rocks glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside.

Muddle Sugar
In a separate mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube with a few dashes of Peychaud's bitters and a few drops of water until the sugar is dissolved.

Add Whiskey
Add the rye whiskey and ice to the mixing glass and stir until well chilled.

Prepare the Glass with Absinthe
Discard the ice water from the chilled rocks glass and atomize the inside with absinthe, swirling to coat the glass.

Strain and Garnish
Strain the whiskey mixture into the prepared glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, expressing the oils over the drink before adding it to the glass.
