Prepare the glass
Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes to chill it.

Mix the ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine the rye whiskey or bourbon and Angostura bitters. Stir gently with ice until well chilled.

Strain and pour
Strain the mixture into the prepared old-fashioned glass over the ice.

Garnish
Gently press the orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass. Add the Luxardo cherry on top as a garnish.
