Preparation

Cake Directions

1. Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and honey until smooth.

4. Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

5. Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Strawberry Coulis Directions

7. Prepare the Strawberries

Rinse the fresh strawberries under cold water, remove the stems, and slice them.

8. Cook the Coulis

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Cook for about 10 minutes until the strawberries are soft and the sugar is dissolved.

9. Blend the Coulis

Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Blend the mixture until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds if desired.

10. Chill the Coulis

Refrigerate the coulis until ready to serve.

Dehydrated Fruit Powder Directions

11. Prepare the Dehydrated Strawberries

If using store-bought dehydrated strawberries, simply crush them into a fine powder. If making your own, slice fresh strawberries and dehydrate them in a food dehydrator until completely dry.

12. Store the Powder

Store the dehydrated fruit powder in an airtight container until ready for use.
