Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

Spread the crushed tomatoes evenly over the prepared pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  3. 7

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute evenly over the sauce. Layer the spicy soppressata slices on top, followed by fresh oregano leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the assembled pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Drizzle with Hot Honey

Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately drizzle hot honey over the top before slicing.
