Brussels Sprouts

Brown Sugar Bacon

Herb Basil Crust

Method

Preparation of Brussels Sprouts

  1. 1

    Clean and Cut Brussels Sprouts

Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water. Trim the ends and remove any yellow or damaged leaves. Cut larger sprouts in half for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Brussels Sprouts

In a large bowl, toss the cleaned Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

Cooking Brown Sugar Bacon

  1. 3

    Prepare Bacon

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the bacon slices on the sheet.

  2. 4

    Coat with Brown Sugar

Sprinkle the brown sugar and black pepper evenly over the bacon slices.

  3. 5

    Bake Bacon

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Remove from the oven and let cool, then chop into small pieces.

Making the Herb Basil Crust

  1. 6

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the fresh basil leaves, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and olive oil. Blend until a chunky paste forms.

  2. 7

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the herb basil mixture evenly over the seasoned Brussels sprouts.

Baking the Brussels Sprouts

  1. 8

    Combine and Bake

Top the Brussels sprouts with the chopped brown sugar bacon. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the Brussels sprouts are tender and the crust is golden brown.

  2. 9

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm as a side dish.
