Method
Prep & Rim
Prepare the glass
Chill a rocks or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail. Pour kosher salt onto a small plate. Rub the rim of the chilled glass with the lime wedge to moisten evenly, then dip the rim into the salt and twist to coat. Tap off any excess. Set the glass aside.
Mixing
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add fresh lime juice, agave nectar, reposado tequila, and orange liqueur. Add ice to fill the shaker about two-thirds full.
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosty. This chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
Strain & Serve
Discard ice or water from the chilled, salted glass if you used it to chill. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the prepared glass over fresh ice (use a large ice cube or several cubes). Float a small pour (0.25–0.5 oz) of orange liqueur on top for an extra Cadillac-style touch, if desired.
Garnish
Garnish the drink with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring pick.
