Pork Preparation
- 1
Season the Pork
Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt, black pepper, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder, ensuring all sides are coated.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth and lime juice over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the juices.
Taco Assembly
- 4
Prepare Tortillas
Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, until pliable.
- 5
Assemble Tacos
On each tortilla, add a generous portion of the shredded pork. Top with chopped cilantro, diced red onion, and slices of avocado. Add a dollop of sour cream and a spoonful of salsa.
- 6
Serve
Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
