Fruit

1

Choose 4 ripe, unbruised medium bananas. Ripe bananas are yellow with small brown flecks and yield slightly when pressed.

2

Wash the banana skins briefly under cool running water to remove any surface dirt or residue.

3

Peel each banana by pinching or peeling from the stem end, then place on a cutting board or plate.

4

If you plan to store or slice the bananas ahead of time to prevent browning, sprinkle or toss them with 1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice and gently toss to coat. This step is optional.

Optional toppings / variations

5

Simple snack

Eat the peeled banana whole as-is for a quick, portable snack.

6

Sliced with yogurt and toppings

Slice peeled bananas into 1/4-inch rounds. Layer 1 cup Greek yogurt in a bowl or container, arrange banana slices on top, drizzle 1 tablespoon honey, sprinkle 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 2 tablespoons chopped nuts or 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips as desired.

7

Banana with nut butter

Slice a banana lengthwise or in rounds and spread 2 tablespoons peanut butter over the surface. Optionally sprinkle 2 tablespoons chopped nuts or 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips.

8

Frozen banana bites

Slice bananas into 1/2-inch rounds, top half the rounds with a small dollop of peanut butter or yogurt, sandwich with remaining rounds, place on a lined tray and freeze for at least 1 hour. For chocolate coating: melt 2 tablespoons chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth; dip frozen banana bites in melted chocolate, place back on tray and freeze until firm.
