Preparing the Coffee

Brew the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method. Allow it to cool slightly.

Mix in Liqueur
If using, mix in the coffee liqueur into the brewed coffee and set aside.
Cream Mixture Preparation

Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until well combined and slightly pale in color.

Incorporate Mascarpone
Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and mix until smooth and creamy.

Whip the Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Fold in the Cream
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined and creamy.
Assembling Tiramisu

Soak the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the brewed coffee (make sure not to soak them too long) and place them in a 9x9 inch dish.

Layer the Cream Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the soaked ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top, followed by the remaining cream mixture.
Finishing Touches

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to set.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and optional chocolate shavings.
