Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Base Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.

Churning

  1. 3

    Prepare Ice Cream Maker

Set up your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure the bowl is frozen if required.

  2. 4

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the chilled mixture into the ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually about 20-25 minutes, until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Mix-Ins

  1. 5

    Add Optional Mix-Ins

If desired, add your choice of chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or fruit puree during the last 5 minutes of churning.

Freezing

  1. 6

    Transfer and Freeze

Once the ice cream reaches the desired consistency, transfer it to a half-pint container and smooth the top. Seal the container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.
