Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape during frying.

- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully place a few breaded cheese sticks into the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
For the Marinara Sauce
- 6
Sauté the Garlic
In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
- 7
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. If using, add fresh basil towards the end of cooking.
- 9
Serve
Remove the sauce from heat and serve alongside the hot mozzarella sticks.
