Preparation of Ice Cream Base

Mix the Base Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is well chilled.
Churning the Ice Cream

Churn the Base
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency (usually about 20-25 minutes).

Add Flavorings
During the last 5 minutes of churning, add your chosen flavoring: chocolate syrup, pureed strawberries, crushed cookies, or mint extract, and mix thoroughly.

Once churned, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Cover the container with a lid and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.
