Beef Patty

Cheeseburger Assembly

Method

Beef Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 tsp of salt, and 0.5 tsp of black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion. Set aside the lettuce leaves.

  2. 5

    Toast the Buns

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheddar. Top with slices of tomato and onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
