Chicken Preparation
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to about 1/4 inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
Season the Chicken
Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the chicken breasts.
Filling
Add the Filling
Lay one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Roll up the chicken tightly, starting from one end, and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
Breading
Prepare the Breading Stations
Set up three shallow dishes: one with the flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one with bread crumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.
Coat the Chicken
Dredge each chicken roll first in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
Cooking
Cook the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the breaded chicken rolls and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Bake the Chicken
Transfer the browned chicken rolls to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
Serve
Remove toothpicks or twine from the chicken rolls, slice, and serve warm with your choice of side dishes.
