Burger Patty

Method

Prepare Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine cooked quinoa, black beans, rolled oats, diced bell pepper, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mash the mixture with a fork or potato masher until well combined yet still slightly chunky.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and form each part into a patty shape, about 1 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook Patties

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through. If desired, add Swiss cheese slices on top of the patties during the last minute of cooking and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 4

    Prepare Avocado

Slice the avocados in half, remove the pit, and carefully slice the flesh into thin slices. Set aside.

  2. 5

    Make Poblano Ranch

In a small bowl, mix the ranch dressing with the diced roasted poblano pepper and chopped cilantro until well combined.

  3. 6

    Prepare Pico de Gallo

If not using store-bought pico de gallo, combine diced tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, lime juice, and cilantro in a bowl and mix well.

Assemble Burger

  1. 7

    Build the Burger

On each burger bun, place a cooked veggie patty, top with a slice of Swiss cheese, a few slices of avocado, a generous spoonful of pico de gallo, and drizzle with poblano ranch dressing. Top with the other half of the bun.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the Cali Veggie Burgers immediately with a side of your choice.
