Method

Prepare the Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patty tender.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Patty

  1. 3

    Heat Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness. If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato and onion into thin rings.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in the skillet. Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun, followed by lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese (if using). Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve

  1. 7

    Ready to Enjoy

Serve the burgers immediately with your choice of sides, such as fries or a salad.
