Pork Preparation
- 1
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- 2
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Pour apple cider vinegar and water over the top. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
- 4
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Assemble the Sandwich
- 5
Shred the Pork
Once the pork is done cooking, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Discard excess fat.
- 6
Mix with BBQ Sauce
Add the shredded pork to the prepared BBQ sauce and mix well to coat the meat evenly.
- 7
Toast the Buns
Lightly toast the hamburger buns in a skillet or toaster until golden brown.
- 8
Serve
Place a generous portion of the BBQ pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw and close the sandwich with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.
