Method

Prepare Burger Sauce

  1. 1

    Mix Sauce Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, finely chopped pickles, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix well until smooth and evenly combined.

  2. 2

    Season the Sauce

Taste the sauce and add salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust according to your preference.

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Shape Burger Patties

Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (approximately 4 oz each). Roll each portion into a ball without overworking the meat.

  2. 4

    Season the Patties

Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over each meatball.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 5

    Preheat the Griddle

Heat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 6

    Smash the Patties

Once the skillet is hot, place the meatballs on the griddle, spacing them apart. Using a spatula, press down firmly to flatten each meatball into a patty (about 1/2 inch thick). Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.

  3. 7

    Flip and Add Cheese

Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 8

    Prepare Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the griddle until golden brown.

  2. 9

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, spread a generous amount of the house-made burger sauce. Top with a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese. Add slices of tomato and onion on top.

  3. 10

    Complete the Burger

Place the top half of the bun over the toppings to complete the burger. Serve immediately.
