À La Carte - Protein Options (choose one)

Method

À La Carte - Bacon

  1. 1

Pan-fry method (crispy exterior, tender fat)

Place a large skillet over medium heat and add bacon slices in a single layer without overlapping. Cook 4–6 minutes on the first side until the edges begin to brown and the fat renders, then flip and cook another 3–5 minutes until crisp to your liking. Adjust heat down slightly if bacon browns too quickly. Transfer bacon to a paper towel–lined plate to drain. Serve hot.

  2. 2

If you prefer oven-baked bacon: preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange bacon on a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil or parchment in a single layer. Bake 12–18 minutes, rotating the pan once, until reached desired crispness. Drain on paper towels and serve.

À La Carte - Sausage

  1. 3

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tsp neutral oil. Add sausage links in a single layer. Cook 10–12 minutes, turning every 2–3 minutes to brown evenly and cook through. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for pork sausage. Remove to a plate and let rest 2 minutes. For a light glaze, brush with 1 Tbsp maple syrup or honey during the last 1–2 minutes of cooking and allow to caramelize lightly.

  2. 4

Alternative: Grill over medium heat, turning frequently, 8–10 minutes until internal temperature is 160°F (71°C).

À La Carte - Ham

  1. 5

    Pan-sear ham steak

Pat the ham steak dry. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp unsalted butter. When butter foams, add the ham slice and sear 2–3 minutes per side until nicely browned and heated through. Reduce heat if browning too quickly. If desired, brush 1 Tbsp maple syrup or honey on each side during the last minute of cooking and let it caramelize lightly. Remove to a plate and let rest 1 minute before serving.

  2. 6

Oven option: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place ham steak on a baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes until warmed through. For glazing, brush with maple syrup and broil 1–2 minutes to caramelize, watching closely to avoid burning.

Finishing & Garnish

  1. 7

Season cooked bacon, sausage or ham with a grind of black pepper to taste (about 1 tsp distributed as desired). Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley (about 1 Tbsp) if using for color. Serve immediately as part of the breakfast plate.
