Method
Beverage Base
- 1
For Coffee
Brew 12 oz (about 355 ml) of coffee using your preferred method (drip, pour-over, French press). Use a medium grind for drip/pour-over or a coarser grind for French press. Brew temperature should be about 195–205°F (90–96°C). Once brewed, pour into a 12 oz cup and proceed to customization steps below.
- 2
For Tea
Heat fresh water to the appropriate temperature for your chosen tea (boiling 212°F/100°C for black tea; 175–185°F/80–85°C for green). Place one tea bag in a 12 oz cup and pour 12 oz hot water over it. Steep: 3–5 minutes for black tea, 2–3 minutes for green, or as recommended for herbal. Remove tea bag when desired strength is reached and proceed to customization steps below.
Milk & Dairy Alternatives (optional)
- 3
If adding milk or cream: warm 1–2 tablespoons of your chosen milk or half-and-half (see ingredient quantities) slightly (about 140°F/60°C) or froth if desired. Pour warmed/frothed milk into the brewed coffee or steeped tea. Adjust amount to taste — for a creamier 12 oz beverage, increase to 2–3 tablespoons.
Sweeteners & Flavorings (optional)
- 4
Sweeten and flavor to taste. Start with 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar, simple syrup, or honey; stir until dissolved. For vanilla, add 1/4 to 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and stir. Finish with a dash of cinnamon if desired. Taste and add more sweetener or milk in small increments until preferred balance is reached.
Serve
- 5
Serve the 12 oz coffee or tea immediately while hot. Provide spoon or stirrer and optional extras (additional milk, sweeteners, cinnamon). If preparing iced, allow the beverage to cool slightly, pour over a glass with ice (fill 12 oz cup with ice and pour 12 oz hot beverage; consider diluting strength beforehand) and adjust milk/sweetener as needed.
