Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add in the granulated sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mascarpone
In another bowl, gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream mixture until well combined and smooth.
- 4
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso, making sure not to soak them, and lay them in a single layer at the bottom of a serving dish.
- 5
Layer the Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.
- 6
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 7
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 8
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
