Cocktail

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Optional rim

If you want a honey-sugar rim, pour the tsp of honey onto a small plate and spread the sugar on another plate. Lightly wet the outside rim of a highball or Collins glass with the orange or lemon twist, dip the rim first in the honey, then in the sugar to coat. Set glass aside.

  2. 2

Fill the prepared glass about 2/3 with ice (or fill with fresh ice if you didn't rim).

Mixing

  1. 3

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Jack Honey, 0.5 oz cinnamon whisky, 0.5 oz fresh orange juice and 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice. Add 4–6 medium ice cubes to the shaker.

  2. 4

Shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

  3. 5

Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the ice.

  4. 6

Top with 3 oz chilled lemonade, pouring gently to preserve carbonation if using carbonated lemonade. Stir once gently with a bar spoon to combine (1–2 turns).

  5. 7

Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters over the top; they will float and add aroma and spice.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 8

Express the oils of an orange wheel or twist over the drink (pinch and rotate over the surface), then drop the wheel or twist into the glass along with the lemon twist for contrast.

  2. 9

Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer. Optionally offer extra bitters at the table.
