Prepare the Glass
Chill a rocks glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside.

Mix Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the Michter's Rye Whiskey, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and Angostura bitters.

Shake
Fill the shaker with ice cubes, cover, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.

Strain and Serve
Empty the ice water from the chilled rocks glass and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass over fresh ice.

Garnish
Express the oils from an orange twist over the drink and place it as a garnish in the glass before serving.
